Day 46: Limiting my social media and embracing life (+ photos of Trolltunga!)

Tuesday, July 25 - 6:10am in beautiful Norway (specifically, in an Airbnb in Røldal, Norway, which is an hour away from the epic Trolltunga hike!)

Hi!

It’s currently 6:12am and the place is quiet, with just a clock ticking away.

There are two people sleeping in their beds and they probably won’t get up until around 9:00am as we have to catch a flight out of Bergen which is a 3 hour 30 min drive away.

I told them it was a 2.5 hour drive away so woops! We probably need to leave a wee earlier to catch our flight at 3:00pm. Haha!

Our next destination? ICE LANDDDD!!!!

Ahh! So exciting!!!!

This place has been on my bucketlist for sooooo long! I’m so excited to see the beauty in every corner.

Our friend, V, has joined us on our “honeymoon.” (Lol, I already told ya, it’s not really a honeymoon, it’s just a looooong epic adventure and now we are getting friends to arrive and join us!!).

YAY!

He will be joining us to explore 4 countries - Norway, Iceland, Romania, and Thailand, so really it’s a holiday for him as well! He just knows how to choose the right company to go with! ;)

Anyway, he RARELY posts on social media but when he does, you know it’s GOOD.

He recently posted about our crazy 7.5 hour hike to Trolltunga on Instagram/Facebook and the photos turned out soooo good.

While I’m writing this, my legs are still sore from the hike (I mean, we did it YESTERDAY so it makes sense lol), but I also wanted to acknowledge my lack of wanting to post anything on social media nowadays.

In fact, I really want to de-activate my Instagram accounts and not have to face that world again, haha.

I haven’t told anyone about this website of mine except for my partner who doesn’t read this (lol) and my immediate family (hi sisters!) so it’s been good.

I don’t even think my sisters read this either so really, it’s a quiet and happy space for me, myself, and I (hehe).

I enjoy writing for myself and writing in peace.

I used to blog a LOT back in the day (hello, Xanga!) and my family home has shelves of my old diaries/journals (please don’t read those, teenage Kim was an interesting one HAHA).

It was an outlet for me to just talk about my day, reflect on it, and showcase my feelings via writing.

But I guess when we grow older, we learn new things, focus on different activities, and sometimes leave past hobbies behind.

In this case, I left my love of writing behind and stopped documenting my life.

I did write a few articles on Medium in the past few years which was great but I still needed to write it in a way that showcased a “professional Kim.”

But anyway, cheers to me slowly getting back into writing again!

And instead of posting things on social media, I’m just embracing life (and getting rest in between).

Yesterday, I was dead tired at around 10:30pm so I clunked out early (hence being able to wake up at 6:00am at the moment).

Although V posted about his hike, I probably won’t share anything until later on.

Maybe I’ll add some photos of the hike below so you can enjoy it with me!

Epic views of Trolltunga!

Slam and I!

HAHAH, we didn’t sync our arms together. Truly opposites!

I did make him do this cheesy heart thing, so at least that’s something HAhAHA

For now, I’m going to embrace life my own way.

Whether that be sharing pictures with my family or just making funny TikToks to my 12 followers.

Ironically, I just said I didn’t want to post on social media but I actually made 11 TikTok videos during these past few days in Norway (AHHAHA).

Okay, something you need to know about me is that I loooove filling my life with joy, happiness, and humour and by making funny TikToks, it makes me happy.

I haven’t told anyone about my TikTok either so shhhhh! Keep it to yourself. That’s another outlet of mine to document my life.

So hey! I guess there’s two - one is this website and two is TikTok.

Instagram doesn’t bring me that much joy so I think I’ll let go of it for a bit.

But the main thing is that I’m doing things that I want to do and not feeling pressured by society to do things a certain way.

Okay, it’s 6:49am now. I’m going to end this blog post here and then possibly get in a bit more sleep in.

I actually have to do a bit of side hustle things so I’ll either get that done this morning or while we wait in our layover on our way to Iceland.

Au revoir for now!

xoxo, knd.

Here’s us embracing life and soaking up the beauty of Norway!! <3
