Week 2 of no social media: Interviews, business milestones, and more!

Okay, WOW!

I told myself I wouldn’t go on social media until I finished my portfolio but I finished it a week ago and still haven’t downloaded back the apps (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok).

Mainly because I thought hey, if I was productive last week, how much more productive can I be THIS week!?

So what was I up to this week you ask?!

Well here you go!

Finished a HUGE milestone for my business

We submitted an important application for my business yesterday that has been an outstanding and tedious task for us for MONTHS. And our goal was to get it out the door this week so we FINALLY DID IT! It took a lot of patience with an extremely glitchy 35-page pdf form and having to understand new terms I wasn’t familiar with. But hurrah! Now we wait for their response and can now focus on other important tasks to continue running the business!! (I’m just keeping this vague as I’ll share more details once the biz is up and running!)

Got 3 interviews!

I made it past two phone interviews and had one hiring manager interview this week! Two places were through referrals. Still a bit shaky during the interview stages but I have to keep pushing through!!

Got 1 response from the 8 jobs I applied for via LinkedIn

One company rejected me for a role (I was under qualified for that one so it didn’t surprise me!) but the other 7 places I applied to didn’t respond. When I was job hunting a couple of years ago, I was VERY confident with my application and wouldn’t be surprised if companies responded within a few days and scheduled an interview with me quickly. With the downturn of the economy, hundreds of applicants are applying for the same role so it’s taking a longer time to respond. I miiiight hear back from them? Or might not? But if they are taking this long and I get snatched up at another place, then sucks for them!!

Wrote more cringeworthy LinkedIn posts

I got better at writing them. Lol, I’ve realised that short and succinct is better than long stories. I’ll save the longer stories for this blog!

Caught up with friends

As someone who’s funemployed, you would think I’m spending most of my days spending time with people who I haven’t seen in a while. Ummmm! With the lack of income, nope! I was able to see a few different people this week and it was nice catching up with them and learning about their lives.

Danced to k-pop music with a friend

Okay, I have a confession to make. I dance to k-pop music with friends to exercise. HAHAHAH. If you followed me on Instagram during peak COVID times, that’s all I did. It was a hilarious habit that we continued to do post-pandemic and still occasionally meet up to do in-person dance sessions. Though it’s very rare that we meet up now since most of my friends have family responsibilities now!

Read the exact same posts on LinkedIn

Who could predict that LinkedIn would recycle their posts on their feed? I kept seeing the same posts over and over when I opened the app. Haha. Guess not having other social media makes life a bit limiting!

Designed stickers and round 2 of packaging

Okay, so my business includes me having to design some packaging and ordering it. I’m a huge perfectionist so I spent a lot of time designing, iterating and then sending them to be ordered. Since it’s not the “final design,” I’m not the biggest fan of the look and feel but it’ll do for now! We are still in the test phase, so I guuuueeesss it’s okay.

I’m kind of having fun posting more blog posts than having to share stories all of the time so maybe I’ll continue to do this.

I do feel like I need to update my @skipandsoar IG feed though, so maybe that’s the next task on my list!

All right, so long, kiddos!

xoxo, knd.
